ACE Hub Wales  has recently launched an insightful spotlight series centred on trauma-informed work, aiming to highlight existing approaches, celebrate their successes, and further inform and support the implementation of the Trauma-informed Wales Framework. As part of this series, Home-Start Cymru is thrilled to share our spotlight report, which delves into how our organisation embodies the principles of the trauma-informed framework in our daily operations.

Understanding Trauma-Informed Work

Trauma-informed work involves recognising the widespread impact of trauma and understanding potential paths for recovery. It emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, creating opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment. ACE Hub Wales’ initiative is a crucial step in promoting these principles across various organisations and communities in Wales.

Home-Start Cymru’s Approach

At Home-Start Cymru, we integrate the values of empathy, non-judgment, and compassion into every aspect of our work. Our spotlight report provides a comprehensive look at how these core values guide our interventions, whether they are small day-to-day interactions or larger systemic practices. By embedding a trauma-informed approach into our organisational culture, we ensure that our support for families is not only effective but also deeply respectful of their experiences and needs.

A Message from Our Chief Executive

Jayne Drummond, Chief Executive of Home-Start Cymru, expressed her excitement about the spotlight report, stating, “Home-Start Cymru is delighted to see the launch of our trauma-informed communities spotlight report with ACE Hub Wales. The report encapsulates the small to large interventions, centred around our core values of empathy, non-judgment, and compassion, we enlist that embed a trauma-informed approach as instinctual practice. We are extremely grateful to ACE Hub Wales for investing so much time in piecing this report together to ensure this is an accurate and comprehensive reflection of what we do and what trauma-informed means to us.”
