Who we are

Home-Start Cymru (HSC) is a Welsh charity who operates nationally throughout Wales, currently providing services to parents in 18 Local Authorities.

We believe that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play a key role in giving their children a good start in life – helping them to achieve their full potential.

Families invite us into their homes and lives so we can form relationships so that our peer volunteers and expert staff can offer non-judgemental, compassionate, confidential support. This enables parents to undertake a sustained journey of change that increases their own and their family’s well-being.

We work holistically with other community support partners including health practitioners and offers a range of services aimed at building stronger families and communities and creating a safer environment for children through in-home or group programmes.

What we do

We understand that, sometimes, parents need the offer of nurturing support and guidance. A little help can make a world of difference, so our trained volunteers will visit you in your own home for between two and three hours a week to offer an extra pair of hands or a listening ear.

And because everyone is different — and each family has their own unique, individual needs — we’ll work with you to find out what you need support with, and tailor our time with you to suit that. You can also be reassured that our time with you will remain confidential.
