Home-Start Cymru Annual Impact Report: Transforming Lives in Wales

This year, Home-Start Cymru proudly supported 1,250 families and 2,000 children across Wales. Our efforts led to 88% of children showing improvements in learning and development, and 69% reporting better mental health, though this marks a decrease, reflecting the growing complexities children face.

The emotional wellbeing of parents was a key focus, with 82% of supported parents reporting improved wellbeing and 79% experiencing better stress management. Financial resilience also grew, with 76% of families improving their household budget management.

Volunteers remain the heart of our organization. This year, 340 families benefited from volunteer support, and we welcomed 100 new volunteers in response to a 77% increase in referrals. One parent highlighted the impact, saying:

“Having someone to talk to about school and children with additional needs has made a huge difference in my life.”

Home-Start Cymru also worked closely with the Welsh Government and Senedd, advocating for families’ voices and piloting tools like the NEST/NYTH framework to build trauma-informed communities.

In the words of Jayne, our CEO, “Transforming lives in Wales, one family at a time,” remains the core of everything we do. Looking ahead, we are committed to meeting the rising needs of families and children across Wales.
